I find that it’s best to give yourself room for a bit of flexibility when it comes to many things in life. The keto diet is a great example for this. Most days I tend to keep my carb intake low, but I also allow myself the odd day to indulge in some higher amounts.
For those days where I do slightly up my carb intake, bagels are one of my go to foods to make. I don’t go full on cheat meal though. Instead, I make keto bagels! Homemade keto bagels are great because they offer the best of both worlds — I get to enjoy one of my favorite foods and the carb content is still incredibly reasonable. In fact, I don’t even get knocked out of ketosis most of the days that I eat keto bagels. With all of that being said, here are the 10 best keto bagel recipes that I know of.
#1 Soft & Chewy Keto Bagels
The first bagel recipe on our list makes a dough that’s quite similar to the rather popular FatHead keto dough recipe with one big difference — it’s 100% dairy-free. This results in a spectacularly good keto-friendly bagel recipe that only has 3 grams of net carbs per serving!
#2 Chewy Keto Bagels
I absolutely love simplicity when it comes to my keto recipes and this one definitely fits the bill. You’ll only need 5 simple ingredients to make these deliciously chewy keto bagels. Using coconut flour gives them a tasty hint of coconut with every bite while also offering plenty of healthy fats and dietary fiber.
#3 Low Carb Bagels Made with FatHead Dough
The next recipe takes the classic FatHead dough recipe and makes some truly outstanding keto bagels with it. As with the previous entry on our list, you’ll only need 5 ingredients when making these bagels — almond flour, gluten-free baking powder, mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, and two eggs. You can also optionally add sesame seeds as a topping to add even more fats.
#4 Keto Mozzarella Dough Bagels
FatHead dough is also known as mozzarella dough for obvious reasons. With that being said, it should come as no surprise that this recipe is quite similar to the previous one with only a few minor tweaks. The reason I had to include it though is because both recipes produce bagels that are really just that good. Make sure to try them both to see which one you prefer!
#5 Low Carb Cheesy Keto Bagels
It’s pretty safe to say that almond flour is my favorite keto-friendly flour to bake with. Not only does it offer a great mix of heart healthy fats, protein, and fiber, but it also gives a delicious slightly nutty taste to recipes it’s used in. You’ll definitely notice that yummy hint of almond in every bite of these cheesy low carb bagels.
#6 Low-Carb Keto Bagels
You’re getting a great 2-for-1 deal with this particular bagel recipe! Not only do you get a terrific keto-friendly bagel dough recipe, but you’ll also be getting a bonus recipe for making a keto avocado egg bagel breakfast sandwich!
#7 Low-Carb Keto Bagels Recipe
Out of all of the different kinds of bagels out there, everything bagels were always my favorite. That’s exactly why I had to include this incredibly good keto-friendly version that’s made with macadamia nuts, coconut butter, lemons, and more!
#8 Fathead Bagels
One of the biggest reasons why I first switched over to the keto diet was realizing just how unhealthy foods like refined sugars and grains really are. Making the change to keto was honestly the best thing I ever did for my health — and I still get to enjoy all of my old favorite foods like bagels without feeling guilty thanks to recipes like this one.
#9 Dairy-Free Keto Bagels
Since most of the bagel recipes on this list are made with some variation of the FatHead dough recipe, I wanted to include another option for keto dieters out there who are also trying to remain dairy-free. And oh my — what a dairy-free recipe this one is! These bagels are loaded with flavor thanks to adding roasted garlic and onion.
#10 These Easy Keto Bagels Are Only 5 Net Carbs!
Last but not least, we arrive at what I consider to be the perfect keto bagel recipe. It’s quick and easy to make, offers a ton of high-quality fats, and contains only 5 grams of net carbs per serving. Add a bit of sesame cheese and poppy seeds for topping and you end up with one mouthwateringly good keto bagel indeed.
Great Tasting Gluten-Free Alternatives
The great thing about each one of these keto bagel recipes is that they allow you to enjoy a delicious bagel sandwich for breakfast without having to fret about what they’re made with. There’s no refined wheat, no gluten, and in some cases, no dairy to be found in the 10 recipes found on our list.
